3M's one-part, moisture-curing urethane seam sealer for exterior and interior body seams. It goes on bare metal or prepped paint, can be tooled to a featheredge or brushed, and is paintable in 30 minutes. It also works as a weld-through sealer with squeeze-type resistance spot welding.

Why it works

Seal it once

  • Won't shrink or crack. Stays flexible from −20°F to 180°F.
  • Fills big voids. High solids, around 95%.
  • Paintable. With waterborne or solvent-borne paint, from 30 minutes to 24 hours (scuff after 24 hours).
  • Weld-through. For squeeze-type resistance spot welding.
Keep it off acid etch. 3M says acid-etch primer should not be used in direct contact with any 3M seam sealer, because residual acid can weaken the bond. Use an epoxy or 2K primer under it, or go to clean bare metal.
How to use

Application

  1. Clean painted surfaces, scuff with a Scotch-Brite pad or P180–P320, then re-clean.
  2. Perforate the seal at the cartridge outlet, install the nozzle and pull the tab to remove the metal base seal.
  3. Cut the nozzle for the bead you want and load a caulking gun.
  4. Apply the sealer and tool it to the finished look you need.
  5. Paint after 30 minutes. After 24 hours, scuff before painting.
