3M's fastest-cutting paint-prep disc. The precision-shaped ceramic grain slices instead of plowing, and the multi-hole Clean Sanding pattern pulls dust out without lining up holes. 3M says it cuts at least 30% faster and lasts at least 30% longer than traditional ceramic abrasives.

Sharper grain, cleaner cut
- Precision-shaped grain. Triangular grains stand up in sharp peaks that slice rather than plow.
- Clean Sanding holes. The multi-hole pattern clears dust better than 5- or 6-hole discs, which 3M says raises cut rate and disc life.
- No hole alignment. On a 3M Clean Sanding disc pad, the disc holes don't need to line up with the pad.
- For refinish materials. Paint, plastic, polyester filler and primer.

Use a Clean Sanding pad. The disc only extracts fully on a 3M Clean Sanding disc pad hooked to a vacuum. On that pad the holes don't need lining up. Keep overhang to 2 mm or less, and never exceed the speed marked on the pad.
Sanding sequence
- Fit a 3M Clean Sanding disc pad and connect dust extraction.
- Start with the coarsest grade that does the job: 80+ to shape filler.
- Step up one grade at a time, so each grade removes the last one's scratches.
- Feather-edge with 220+ or 240+.
- Finish with 320+ or 400+ before primer.

Do the holes need to line up with my pad?
Not on a 3M Clean Sanding disc pad. On other multi-hole pads, extraction depends on the pad.
What grade do I use before primer?
3M recommends 320+ to 400+ for surface prep before primer, and 220+ to 240+ for feather-edging.
How fast can I run them?
3M doesn't publish a disc RPM. Never exceed the maximum speed marked on your disc pad.
