Why it works

Premium masking

  • Sharp lines. For general and fine-line masking.
  • Stays down. Resists breaking, lifting and edge curl.
  • Any paint. 3M says it can be used with water or solvent-based paint systems.
  • Clean removal. Less slivering and no adhesive transfer.
Cut the edge as you pull. On fine lines, 3M says to pull slowly at 45° away from the paint edge, with the surface at 60–90°F, to cut a clean line.
How to use

Masking

  1. Clean moldings and rubber gaskets with solvent to remove release agents.
  2. Apply to a surface at 60–90°F and press the edge down.
  3. Spray waterborne or solvent-based paint.
  4. Bake at up to 250°F for 30 minutes.
  5. Pull slowly at 45° away from the paint edge.
