Random orbit, fewer mistakes
- No swirls or holograms. 3M builds the RO system to avoid swirls, holograms and burn-through.
- Variable speed. A speed dial and a progressive-speed trigger.
- Long cord. 3M calls it generously long.
- A full system. Matched RO pads, RO Compound and RO Polish.
Let the tool do it. 3M's directions: spread product at speed 2, compound at speeds 4–6 with no downward pressure, and polish at speed 4 at most. Work a 2 ft × 2 ft area in a crosshatch; if defects remain, add 4 drops and keep going.
Compounding and polishing
- Center the pad and press it onto the backup pad.
- Apply RO Compound to a white wool or foam compounding pad and spread it at speed 2.
- Compound at speeds 4–6 with no pressure, working 2 ft × 2 ft in a crosshatch.
- Switch to a purple foam polishing pad with RO Polish and polish at speed 4 or below.
- Wipe off residue with a detailing cloth.

15 mm or 21 mm?
The 15 mm (34100) runs 5 in pads for tighter areas; the 21 mm (34101) runs 6 in pads for more coverage.
Does it come with pads or polish?
Pads, compound and polish are sold separately as part of the Perfect-It RO system.
Can I use Perfect-It EX compounds with it?
3M pairs this tool with its RO Compound and RO Polish. The EX line is built for rotary polishers.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. 3M says warranty claims must be made within one year from the date of 3M's shipment.
