3M's non-hardening wax for the inside of repaired panels. It seals hem flanges, internal joints and compromised e-coat, stays soft and self-heals into cracks, and won't chip, peel or crack. Use it after welding and paint work are done.

Protection that stays soft
- Self-healing. The wax stays pliable and reflows into cracks and crevices.
- Goes where OEM coating was lost. 3M names door skins, rocker panels, interior quarter panels and frame rails.
- Steel and aluminum. For bare or primed steel and aluminum, including new replacement parts.
- Tested near the booth. 3M reports no adverse effects on freshly painted panels.
Application
- Finish all welding and painting first. Cavity wax goes on last.
- Shake the can for 1 minute after the mixing ball comes loose.
- Spray from about 6 in (15 cm) with 50% overlap. Apply 2–3 coats; 3M recommends three.
- For enclosed sections, fit an 08851 wand: the 24 in and 34 in wands spray 360°, and the 8 in wand shoots a stream to flood joints.
- When done, turn the can upside down and spray to clear the nozzle or wand. Wipe overspray with a VOC-compliant surface cleaner.
