OEM-style attachment
- Fast adhesion build. 3M cites superior adhesion build rate to automotive substrates.
- Conformable core. Wets out well, and the high-strength core keeps a thin, consistent bond line.
- OEM approved. For moldings, claddings, wheel flares, emblems and A/B pillar trim.
- Wide range. Interior and exterior trim.
Promote the plastic, never the paint. 3M recommends 06396 adhesion promoter on all plastic parts before taping, but never on vehicle paint. Tape the part first, then roll it onto the vehicle and re-roll the edges.
Application
- Remove all old tape and residue with a Stripe-Off Wheel, then wipe with 3M Prep Solvent-70 and isopropyl alcohol.
- Prime plastic parts with 3M adhesion promoter 06396.
- Apply tape to the part first.
- Warm the panel to 60–110°F with no condensation, then position the part.
- Roll it on firmly with a hard rubber roller and re-roll the edges. Full adhesion takes up to 72 hours.
