Follow the OEM, not the tube. 3M says product selection must be strictly guided by the vehicle manufacturer. Use it together with rivets, spot welds or fasteners, and never for bond-only structural repairs unless the OEM specifies it.
How to use

Application

  1. Grind the bond area to clean, bare metal. Galvanized coatings come off to bright steel.
  2. Load the cartridge in a 3M 08117 or 09930 applicator with an 08193 or 08194 mixing nozzle.
  3. Apply and set rivets or spot welds within about 2 hours.
  4. Riveted or spot-welded parts can be unclamped right away; bond-only parts after 8 hours at 73°F.
  5. Wait 24 hours at 73°F before returning the vehicle to service, or heat-cure at up to 175°F for 30 minutes within 2 hours of application.

Why does it turn purple?

The color change shows the cure has started. Excess heat turns it silver or gray.

Can I MIG weld near it?

Squeeze-type resistance spot welding through uncured adhesive is OK. Keep MIG welding at least 2 inches away and never weld through it.

Can I use it without rivets or welds?

Only where the vehicle manufacturer specifies a bond-only repair. 3M designs it to work with rivets, spot welds or fasteners.

How do I speed it up?

Heat-cure at up to 175°F (80°C) for 30 minutes, started within 2 hours of application.
