Why it works

The finish coat over filler

  • Self-leveling. Flows into pinholes and low spots, and stays pinhole-free.
  • Good vertical hang. Holds on vertical panels.
  • Stain and tack free. For clean sanding and priming.
  • Wide substrate list. Galvanized steel, steel, aluminum, fiberglass, SMC, e-coat, OEM topcoats, and cured epoxy and urethane primers.
Wet it out, then build. 3M says to lay down a thin, tight coat first, then build with more thin coats. Over bare metal, apply right after sanding and cleaning so it doesn't flash rust. On bare cold-rolled steel, put down epoxy primer first.
How to use

Application

  1. Sand bare metal with 80/180 grit, other surfaces with 180 or finer, then clean.
  2. Mix in 3M Cream Hardener at 2% by weight: a 1-1/4 in strip per 3 in circle of glaze.
  3. Apply a thin, tight coat, then build with more thin coats, up to 1/8 in total. Apply above 45°F.
  4. Shape sand after 15 minutes and finish sand after 20 minutes at 77°F.
  5. Featheredge with 180 up to 400, then prime.
