Why it works

Fewer pigtails, easier polish

  • Purple coating. 3M says the updated coating greatly reduces pigtails and boosts abrasive life.
  • Film backing. A flexible, durable polyester film for conformability and a consistent scratch.
  • Aluminum oxide. Cuts fast, lasts and resists loading.
Sand dry to find the defects. 3M's Perfect-It process starts with a dry pass of P1500 or P2000 to highlight defects. Then sand out only those spots and match the surrounding texture.
How to use

Defect removal sequence

  1. Mount the disc on a 6 in Hookit pad on a DA sander. A soft interface pad is recommended but not required.
  2. Sand dry with P1500 or P2000 to level nibs, runs or orange peel.
  3. Refine the scratch with Trizact 3000 used damp; 5000 is optional after 3000.
  4. Compound, then polish.
