Consistent scratch, less buffing
- Structured abrasive. Trizact minerals are spread evenly and wear evenly, for a consistent finish and long disc life.
- Foam backing. The foam disc follows contours; add a soft interface pad on curved panels.
- Shorter compounding. A finer, uniform scratch means less time on the buffer.
Damp, not wet. 3M says to use Trizact discs damp, with water only, and not to soak them. Too much water and the disc hydroplanes; too little and it loads. A white slurry means it's cutting.
Refining sequence
- Remove defects first with P1200–P2000 finishing film or 1500/2000 Wetordry.
- Mist the disc and the area with a spray bottle.
- Run the disc on a DA, ideally 5 mm orbit, flat on a soft Hookit pad. Add a soft interface pad on contours.
- Make at least 5 passes with about 50% overlap.
- Wipe clean and go to compounding, or straight to polish after 8000.
