Stabond E-183 Foam-Safe Contact Adhesive for EPS, Wood & Metal, Red, Quart or Gallon
Stabond E-183 Foam-Safe Contact Adhesive for EPS, Wood & Metal, Red, Quart or Gallon
SKU:E-183-G
The contact adhesive for foam. Stabond E-183 bonds EPS board and Styrofoam without eating into it, and it grabs wood, cork, metal and fiberglass too. That makes it the go-to for bonding lauan or plywood to foam cores in RV and trailer walls.

Strong bond, no foam damage
- Foam-safe solvent blend. Formulated specifically for expanded polystyrene, so it bonds EPS and Styrofoam without attacking the surface.
- Bonds almost everything else too. Wood, cork, metal and fiberglass, so one adhesive covers the core and the frame.
- Spray or brush. Use a pressure-pot gun for big panels, or a brush for spot repairs.
- Heat resistant to 180 °F with a 5–45 minute bonding range for positioning large sheets.
Applications
- RV and trailer walls: lauan or plywood to EPS foam cores
- Insulation board and Styrofoam fabrication
- Cork, wood, metal and fiberglass assemblies
Application
- Make sure both surfaces are clean, dry and free of dust and oil.
- Spray or brush a uniform coat on both surfaces. For spraying, a suggested pressure-pot setup is 70–100 psi line and 10–20 psi pot.
- Let the solvent evaporate for 5–15 minutes, then join the parts within the 45-minute bonding window.
- Apply firm, even pressure across the whole panel. Compression is the key to a good bond.
- Allow 24–48 hours of post-cure before the part sees full load. Thin with toluene (Stabond's T-Thinner) if needed.

FAQ
Will it melt my foam?
No. E-183 is formulated for EPS and Styrofoam, and its solvent blend doesn't attack the foam.
Spray or brush?
Either works. Spray for large panels; brush for small or spot repairs. Coat both surfaces either way.
How much do I need?
About 120 ft² of coated surface per gallon. Since both sides get coated, plan on roughly 60 ft² of finished panel per gallon.
What do I thin it with?
Toluene. It's what Stabond's T-Thinner is, and we stock it by the gallon. The same can handles gun flush and wiping up uncured adhesive.
How long until it reaches full strength?
The bond is immediate on contact. Stabond recommends allowing 24–48 hours of post-cure before the part sees full load.
Why is overnight so expensive?
Stabond is an extremely flammable liquid, so it can't ride in a normal box. Express and overnight shipments have to go out as declared dangerous goods, in certified packaging with carrier hazmat fees on top of the freight. That's why overnight is priced per gallon. Standard ground is the best value unless the job is waiting on it.
